About the journal

Basic information

The Revista Española de Salud Pública is a bimonthly journal of the Ministerio de Sanidad.

Since 2016 publishes their papers in the form of continuous publication (rolling volume).

The Revista Española de Salud Pública was founded in January 1926 as Boletín Técnico de la Dirección General de Sanidad, then subordinated to the Ministerio de la Gobernación. In its first issue (year I, number I), the editorial emphasized the official nature of that publication, which honoured its colleagues... and in which it was defined as a public health organ. According to the same text, the idea of publishing the Boletín Técnico came up when the yearly "Anuario" of the Dirección General de Sanidad became insufficient before existing demands. Therefore, the newborn Boletín Técnico changed its periodicity from bimonthly to monthly in the first issue of 1927. (More information available in "history of the journal").

Still in 1995, together with the journal title change, the cover layout was modified again without alterating the information it presents.

Now published also on the Internet, it is expected that the Revista Española de Salud Pública, the elder journal in the country specialized in public health and sanitary management, keeps its primary objectives, as well as keeps contributing to the diffusion of the main research works carried out in Spain next years.

The abbreviated title of the journal is Rev Esp Salud Pública, which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, bibliographical references and strips.
